Windmall palms and Mediterranean heather are but two species in full bloom...in January...in Vancouver
I stepped away from my iMac long enough today to snap a few photos of my front yard where the palms and heather are looking mighty happy right about now. That's probably because Environment Canada reports that January 2010 was a record warm month. In my short walk around New Westminster, I saw snow drops, crocus, witchhazel and dozens of other flowers blooming. They're showing their spring colours just in time to welcome visitors for the winter Olympics!
why is everyone so shocked? Our weather has not changed that much in 5-10 years. They knew what our weather was like when we were awarded the games- GET OVER IT.
if you want snow, make it part of the bid criteria.
