Unlike almost every other major urban centre, the City of Burnaby is unable to post campaign donors on the Internet
As part of our Know Your Donor series, we began checking around throughout Metro Vancouver to see who was donating to whom. What we discovered is that when it comes to making the donors public, not all cities were created equal.
For example, take the City of Burnaby. When we tried to locate campaign donor information on their website it was nowhere to be found. This is unlike Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam and scores of other Metro cities. In Burnaby, if you want to find out online who bankrolled the campaign of Mayor Derek Corrigan or other candidates for council, you're out of luck.
In fact, if you want to get any campaign disclosure material, you have to drag yourself down to Burnaby City Hall where the records are protected under lock and key. Below you will find the links to almost every major city in Metro Vancouver and their donor lists.
