CityCaucus.com has learned that senior managers at Vancouver City Hall were "shocked" to learn that one of their closest colleagues is married to a Vision Vancouver political operative now working in the Mayor's office.
Laurie Best, the City's Director of Communications, is married to Brent Humphrey, a senior Mayor's office staffer. The revelation came via Frances Bula's blog just days before Judy Rogers was fired:
"Best is currently head of the Vancouver’s communications department, meaning she spends a lot of time with city manager Judy Rogers, helping figure out appropriate city responses to the current craziness swirling around city hall."
Best started her job during the contentious civic labour dispute in the summer of 2007. She was responsible for providing then Mayor Sam Sullivan and City Council with support and strategic advice during the lengthy strike.
